Cycling into the wind

Amsterdam and Utrecht, 2020-2022

Begin again. And again. And again.

Everything in pieces

Text, 2021-2022

I wrote about home-making with broken tools. There are fifty pieces.

Above are four excerpts presented as images. Below are links to four pieces in their entirety.

A heavy smudge’ (2021)
Brown from below’ (2021)
How to address a burden’ (2022)
The gardener and the sailmaker’ (2022)

Groundwork/Framework

Digital collage, 2021

When moving overseas, a hard drive can accommodate more than a suitcase. (There is no charge for extra baggage.)

These collages are made from high resolution scans of fabric I painted by hand in Vancouver. I cut up and quilted the fabric digitally while living in Amsterdam.

These haven’t been printed yet but they should be, on super matte paper that is easy to fold up and throw into a backpack just like the hard drive that held the scans I used to make them.

Letters*

Paper collage, 2020-2021

If you move to another country and the whole world stops, talk to people in any way you can.

I wrote 26 letters in a language I knew—collage—and I put them on a secret website. Anyone who found the website was invited to write to me and I sent them a letter in return. I received some really nice things in correspondence, including the following essay by Toronto-based artist, Adrienne Scott.

Message in a bottle’ (2020)

I didn’t send all 26 letters. The secret website no longer exists but if you are reading this and would like one of the remaining letters, write to me.
